MUSCAT – The Authority is inviting all beneficiaries and stakeholders to share their views regarding the regulations for the development, testing, and operation of digital systems, platforms, and applications in the telecommunications sector.
This move is part of the TRA’s strategy to enhance the nation’s digital economy, improve cybersecurity, and protect data, aligning directly with the goals of Oman Vision 2040 for digital transformation and national capacity building.
The proposed regulations aim to achieve multiple objectives, including maximizing investment benefits, ensuring an available and secure infrastructure, and enhancing local added value by developing a skilled national workforce.
The key areas of the regulation under review focus on technical and security aspects, including:
• Development, testing, and operational environment controls
• External support controls for systems
• Database Controls
• Systems integration controls
• Systems and server performance measurement controls
The TRA is urging all beneficiaries and interested parties to review the consultation document and submit their responses. The deadline for submitting feedback is October 28, allowing participants a four-week window from the date of publication.
Stakeholders can review the full consultation document and submit their opinions via the online survey available on the TRA website: https://tra.gov.om/ViewPublicConsultations.jsp?code=80
