Oman and Belarus issue joint statement following state visit of His Majesty Sultan Haitham

His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik Al Said and Alexander Lukashenko of the Republic of Belarus stressed the importance of strengthening cooperation in the fields of education and culture to deepen bilateral relations and foster closer ties.

MUSCAT : The leaders also underlined the significance of ongoing joint industrial cooperation projects, which are expected to positively impact bilateral economic relations.

These remarks were part of a joint statement issued on the occasion of His Majesty’s state visit to Belarus, held on October 6 and 7, 2025. The text of the joint statement is as follows:

At the invitation of His Excellency Alexander Lukashenko, President of the Republic of Belarus, His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik paid a state visit to the Republic of Belarus.

In an atmosphere of trust, friendship, and mutual understanding, the two leaders expressed their determination to work together to enhance and develop cooperation between the Sultanate of Oman and the Republic of Belarus, and discussed several international and regional issues of common interest.
The two leaders discussed the progress made in implementing agreements reached during the highest-level exchange visits in 2024 and 2025 in the fields of food security, agriculture, industry, logistics, healthcare, tourism, and culture.

The two sides expressed their appreciation for the efforts of all parties to increase bilateral trade and expand the supply of Belarusian food products, industrial machinery, pharmaceutical products, veterinary medicines, and other goods to the Sultanate of Oman, as well as Omani products of interest to Belarus.
The two leaders welcomed bilateral efforts to implement joint projects in the field of infant formula and dairy products, as well as machinery assembly in the Sultanate of Oman.

His Majesty the Sultan and the President of the Republic of Belarus agreed that the joint industrial cooperation projects currently being developed will have a positive impact on the development of bilateral economic relations, given the Sultanate of Oman’s logistical capabilities and the benefits the country will accrue from modernizing its infrastructure.

They affirmed their readiness to expand investment cooperation between the two countries in the fields of agriculture, information technology, furniture, and pulp and paper production.

The two sides commended the signing of an agreement to establish a joint committee for cooperation and investment in May 2025, and expressed their interest in launching it in the near future to coordinate joint work between Omani and Belarusian entities in implementing bilateral agreements.

The two leaders emphasised the importance of the direct flight programme on the Minsk-Salalah-Minsk route, launched in February 2025, and expressed the two countries’ determination to work together to increase mutual tourist flows.

They also stressed the importance of developing cooperation in the fields of education and culture to deepen bilateral relations and bring the peoples of the two countries closer together.

They further emphasised the importance of developing direct communication between the business sectors, mutual participation in exhibitions and markets, holding national exhibitions in the Sultanate of Oman and Belarus, and cultural exchange. In this regard, they welcomed the signing of the mutual visa exemption agreement.

The two leaders stressed the significance of establishing a solid legal basis for the continued development of Omani-Belarusian relations in all areas, and welcomed the signing of bilateral documents on the sidelines of the visit.

They agreed that the governments of the two countries, as well as the relevant ministries and organisations, would develop and implement the necessary practical programmes and action plans in accordance with the objectives and principles of this joint statement.

The two sides affirmed their shared positions on major global and regional issues, emphasized the need to comply with the United Nations Charter and international law, and expressed their readiness to cooperate closely within international organizations and make joint efforts to promote a just and equitable multipolar international political and economic order. They also condemned the use of coercive measures and unilateral sanctions.

His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome and generous hospitality he received, and extended an invitation to His Excellency the President of the Republic of Belarus to visit the Sultanate of Oman.
