MUSCAT : In a landmark step that underscores Nama Electricity Distribution Company’s commitment to implementing national strategies for green transformation and reducing its carbon footprint, the company has signed an agreement with Saud Bahwan Group to integrate a number of electric vehicles (EVs) into its operational fleet.

This initiative aligns with the company’s corporate strategy to enhance operational efficiency, reduce carbon emissions, and support national efforts in environmental sustainability and renewable energy, in line with the objectives of Oman Vision 2040 and the government’s directives to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050.

The first phase of the project involves replacing a number of conventional operational vehicles with eco-friendly EVs, with pilot operations scheduled to commence during October.

On this occasion, Eng. Khalfan bin Nasser Al-Bartmani, Chief Commercial Officer at Nama Electricity Distribution, stated: “This step represents a practical implementation of the initiatives aimed at achieving net-zero emissions by 2050. Through this agreement, the company adopts smart and environmentally friendly mobility solutions that reflect our environmental responsibility and strengthen our institutional readiness to align with national directions and government efforts in sustainability.

It is worth noting that the company plans to gradually expand the scope of this initiative by adding more EVs in multiple phases in the future, ultimately covering various operational sites and divisions across the company.
