Muscat: The charity run, ‘Strides for Nature’, took place in partnership with Guinness World Record
holder, Fahad L Abri, on Shatti Al Qurum Beach, Muscat’s most popular seaside destination. The
4km route was designed not only for runners to sprint along the shoreline, but also as a child-
friendly hands-on cleanup drive for families to enjoy together. Around 40 volunteers were on
hand to oversee safety and security, ensure smooth organization, and support participants
throughout the run.
The event was made possible through generous contributions from sponsors and in-kind
supporters. National Bank of Oman stepped forward as the Gold Sponsor. Sherifa Ibrahim Al
Maskari, Head of Brand at NBO, commented, “Our partnership with the Environmental Society
of Oman for ‘Strides for Nature’ underlines our belief in collaboration as a driver of positive
change. By working hand in hand with the community, we can build a healthier, more
sustainable future for Oman.”
Our silver sponsors are Al Ansari Trading and Enterprises and Al Mouj, and further in-kind
support was provided by Artech, InterContinental Hotel, Mazoon Dairy, Mandarin Oriental,
Purunity and Oasis Water. We extend a heartfelt thanks to all of the sponsors, supporters,
volunteers and participants who made this event a success.

A key player to the success of this event was Fahad Al Abri, the celebrated Omani athlete,
fitness trainer, musician, and wellness advocate. Fahad recently entered the Guinness World
Records for completing the fastest 10km run while playing the Ukulele (47 minutes, 57 seconds,
Muscat, February 2025).
His energetic community-led approach to encourage registrations and his presence at Stride for
Nature proved both inspirational and galvanizing for participants.
Reflecting on the day’s achievement, Suaad Al Harthi, Executive Director of ESO, remarked:
“Stride for Nature was more than a run—it was a powerful show of community and
commitment to our environment. The dedication of participants and volunteers, the generosity
of sponsors, and the support of Fahad Al Abri and fellow influencers gave incredible
momentum to our cause, reminding us that protecting our natural heritage is both urgent and
achievable when we come together.”
At its core, the charity run sought to raise funds for ESO’s expanding portfolio of initiatives,
which include scientific research, community outreach, educational programs, and partnerships
with government and private sector entities. These efforts are dedicated to conserving Oman’s
unique biodiversity, safeguarding fragile ecosystems, and inspiring a collective sense of
responsibility for environmental stewardship in alignment with the nation’s long-term
sustainability goals.
