MUSCAT – The official logo of ION was launched at a formal ceremony by His Excellency Pankaj Khimji, Advisor for Foreign Trade and International Cooperation at the Ministry of Commerce, Industry, and Investment Promotion.
The new platform is aimed at enhancing bilateral ties through sustained collaboration between government entities, business leaders, think tanks, and other stakeholders from both countries.
Described as a ‘track 1.5’ hybrid forum, ION is designed to serve as a dynamic ‘smart plug-in’ that complements and expands traditional diplomatic and commercial avenues between India and Oman. The initiative focuses on fostering deeper cooperation across sectors including trade, investment, technology, and policy dialogue.

Following successful preliminary ION interactions held on August 11 and 12, the Embassy has organised a series of events throughout September to promote further engagement. These include a virtual discussion on the ION Concept Paper, held on September 7, where participants were invited to contribute ideas and information. In addition, company-level virtual sessions were conducted from September 7 to 11, offering Indian and Omani businesses an opportunity to explore mutual opportunities.
Participation in ION events requires prior registration through links circulated by the embassy. The initiative also encourages stakeholders to submit details of their ongoing or planned India-Oman collaborations, with the goal of facilitating stronger business-to-business and institutional connections.
