MUSCAT – As part of the ongoing ‘Aman’ national awareness campaign, launched by the National Committee to Combat Human Trafficking, GFOW released a public awareness poster emphasising the legal consequences of engaging in or facilitating such offenses.

The warning highlights several serious violations, including:
• Withholding workers’ passports
• Harbouring offenders or helping them evade justice
• Forced labour
• Denying workers their basic rights
• Possessing or dealing with the proceeds of trafficking crimes
• Concealing evidence of such crimes

Under Oman law, individuals found guilty of aiding or concealing human trafficking crimes face imprisonment of no less than six months and up to three years, along with fines ranging from RO 300 to RO 1,000. These penalties apply to anyone who knowingly harbours traffickers, possesses or hides proceeds from such crimes, or contributes to concealing evidence.
The three-month ‘Aman’ campaign, launched on ‘World Day Against Trafficking in Persons’ on July 30, aims to raise public awareness on human trafficking, educate workers and employers about their rights and responsibilities, and encourage community cooperation in combating these crimes.
