MUSCAT: The General Directorate of Criminal Inquiries and Investigations has detained an Asian expatriate on charges of violating Oman’s Cybercrime Law, the Royal Oman Police (ROP) announced on Sunday.
According to the ROP, the arrest followed the circulation of a video clip on social media platforms showing the individual engaging in behavior deemed contrary to public morals and ethics. Authorities said the actions constituted a breach of laws designed to combat information technology crimes.
The ROP confirmed that legal procedures against the suspect are underway and reaffirmed its commitment to addressing conduct that undermines public decency and social values.
