MUSCAT – The cases involved two carpentry and aluminium workshops that failed to complete contracted related to home improvement projects.

The first consumer had contracted with one of the establishments to manufacture and install an electric gate valued at RO 7,000, of which RO 700 was paid in advance. The second consumer had agreed with another workshop to install windows for RO 1,200, paying RO 880 upfront.

In both instances, the companies failed to complete the agreed work within the stipulated timelines, prompting the consumers to file formal complaints with the Authority.

The Authority, in turn, initiated its adopted legal procedures, which concluded with reaching an amicable settlement providing for the termination of the concluded contracts and the refund of the paid amounts, totalling RO 1,580.

The Authority emphasised that the settlement reflects its ongoing commitment to safeguarding consumer rights, ensuring that contractual agreements are honoured, and maintaining transparency in commercial transactions. It also emphasised its continued role in oversight, dispute resolution, and raising consumer awareness across all governorates of the Sultanate.
