MUSCAT — A breathtaking Blood Moon lit up the skies of Oman on Sunday night as the total lunar eclipse reached its most dramatic phase.
The rare celestial event began earlier in the evening with the moon entering Earth’s shadow, gradually darkening before transforming into a glowing orb of deep red and copper hues. The phenomenon, known as the Blood Moon, marked the start of the total eclipse phase, which will continue until 10:53 p.m., with the peak occurring at 10:11 p.m.
Sky-gazers across Muscat and other governorates gathered in open spaces, rooftops, and public squares including large crowds at Al Khuwair Square to marvel at the spectacle. Astronomy enthusiasts and photographers captured the striking images of the moon as it glowed against the night sky.
