Muscat – The Consumer Protection Authority (CPA) has announced an amicable settlement between a consumer and a contracting and construction company in Muscat following a dispute over a residential project.
According to the complaint, the consumer had entered into an agreement with the company to build a residential unit on a turnkey basis valued at RO 70,000. As part of the agreement, the consumer paid an advance of RO 35,000. However, despite receiving the payment, the company failed to carry out the work within the agreed timeframe, prompting the consumer to approach the CPA.
Following mediation, a settlement was reached under which the consumer will recover the RO 35,000 paid in advance. The amount will be refunded in specified installments as agreed by both parties.
