Private sector credit rises to RO 21.5 billion in Oman

Conventional commercial banks in Oman reported steady growth between June 2024 and June 2025, with credit balances, investments, and deposits all recording increases.

MUSCAT : According to the latest analysis, the total credit balance granted by conventional commercial banks grew by 7.2%, with private sector credit alone rising 4.8% to reach RO 21.5 billion by the end of June 2025.

On the investment side, banks’ total securities holdings increased by 1.3%, amounting to nearly RO 5.7 billion. Within this category, investments in government development bonds jumped 5.1% to reach RO 2 billion, while investments in foreign securities dropped by 6%, standing at RO 2.1 billion.

On the liabilities side, deposits across conventional commercial banks climbed 4.7%, reaching RO 25.8 billion. Government deposits surged 9.9% to approximately RO 5.9 billion, while public sector deposits declined 7.3% to RO 1.7 billion. Private sector deposits rose 4%, totaling RO 17.1 billion, which represents 66.4% of all deposits.
