MUSCAT : The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has issued a weather alert warning of heavy rainfall and thunderstorms across several governorates from Friday afternoon until early Saturday morning.
According to the National Multi-Hazard Early Warning Center, heavy showers accompanied by downdraft winds are expected over Al Sharqiyah South, Al Sharqiyah North, Al Dakhiliyah, Al Dhahirah, and the deserts of Dhofar, with rainfall amounts ranging between 20 to 40 mm, likely leading to the flow of wadis and streams.
Additional rainfall of varying intensity is also expected over the Hajar mountains, adjoining areas, and coastal regions of Al Wusta and Dhofar, with amounts ranging between 10 to 25 mm.

Warnings Issued
•Rainfall may reach 40 mm, causing flash floods (wadis).
•Strong downdraft winds of 15–45 knots (28–83 km/h) expected.
•Rough seas along the Arabian Sea coast with wave heights of 3–4 meters.
•Reduced visibility during heavy rain and dust rising.
The CAA has urged the public to exercise extreme caution, avoid crossing wadis, stay away from low-lying areas, and refrain from sailing during this period.
Officials added that the alert will be updated within 24 hours if conditions require.
