Indian School Bousher celebrates 79th Independence Day with patriotic fervour

The 79th Independence Day of India was celebrated at Indian School Bousher with grandeur, patriotic spirit, and a vibrant showcase of cultural diversity.

Muscat: The occasion was graced by Mr. Balaji Venkatesh, Chairperson of the Sports and Co-Curricular Sub-Committee, School Management Committee, as the Chief Guest. Ms. Remya Damodaran, Convenor, School Management Committee, had also graced the occasion with her presence.

The celebrations commenced with the arrival of the Chief Guest, followed by the playing of the National Anthem, which reverberated with pride across the campus. In her Welcome Address, the Head Girl, Ms Supriya Sahu, extended warm greetings to the dignitaries, staff, students, and parents, setting the tone for a morning steeped in national pride.

A video presentation titled India – A Glorious Journey took the audience on a captivating tour through India’s rich history, cultural heritage, and achievements, evoking deep patriotic sentiments. The Principal, Mr Prabakaran P, in his address, enlightened the gathering on the significant role of Artificial Intelligence in India’s developmental journey and its potential to shape the nation’s future.

Adding to the uniqueness of the day, the school presented Live from the Heart of India – streaming live moments from the Independence Day celebrations at the Red Fort, bringing the essence of the national celebration directly to the audience.

The cultural segment began with Echoes of Indian Independence, a moving mime performance depicting key milestones of the Indian freedom struggle. This was followed by Ekta ki Dhun – Melody of Unity, a medley of patriotic songs sung in multiple Indian languages, symbolising the unity in diversity that India stands for. The celebration reached a colourful crescendo with Rangilo Bharat – Colourful India, a dance presentation where students represented the vibrancy of various Indian states through graceful movements and traditional costumes.

In his address, the Chief Guest inspired students with the thought that “The progress of a country depends on its learners.” He emphasised the transformative power of reading, urging students to cultivate a habit of exploring books, and encouraging parents to nurture this practice at home to build informed and enlightened citizens of tomorrow.

The celebration concluded with the Vote of Thanks by Master Darsh, expressing gratitude to all contributors and attendees.

The day was a perfect blend of reverence for the past, recognition of the present, and hope for the future, a true celebration of India’s 79 years of independence.
