MUSCAT – The strategy is designed to enhance the protection and promotion of human rights in the Sultanate of Oman in alignment with the Basic Law of the State, the international charters and agreements ratified by Oman, and applicable laws.
Dr. Al Balushi made the announcement during a press meet held to review the Commission’s 2024 Annual Report, which outlines its national role, key achievements, and specific mandates in protecting and advancing human rights across the country.

The report revealed that the Commission monitored and received a total of 1,006 human rights-related issues over the past year. Of these, 47 were formal complaints, while 937 cases involved legal support provided across various categories of rights.

Highlighting progress in press freedoms, Dr. Al Balushi also noted that Oman achieved a significant 18-rank improvement in the 2024 World Press Freedom Index, published by Reporters Without Borders, compared to its position in 2023.
