MANILA : Oman’s participation aims to open wider prospects for trade exchange, attract investments, and deepen cooperation with ASEAN countries on regional priorities of mutual interest.
The 2026 ASEAN Ministerial Meeting, chaired by the Philippines under the theme “Exploring the Future Together,” provides Oman with an important platform to strengthen ties in key sectors, including logistics, maritime transport, energy, green hydrogen, food security, tourism, digital transformation, emerging technologies, and advanced manufacturing industries.
Oman’s participation also coincides with the 50th anniversary of the Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation, which serves as a key framework for promoting peaceful relations between countries. Oman joined the treaty in 2022 under Royal Decree No. 7/2023, reaffirming the principles that guide its foreign policy, including dialogue, mutual respect, peaceful coexistence, respect for international law, and constructive international engagement.

Relations between Oman and ASEAN countries have continued to grow steadily across several sectors. Merchandise trade between Oman and ASEAN reached around US$15 billion by the end of October 2024, while Oman recorded a trade surplus of nearly US$3.4 billion with ASEAN countries.
