MUSCAT – In a notice titled ‘Visa Application Processing’ published on its official website, the Embassy emphasised the importance of submitting visa applications well in advance, preferably at least one month before the intended travel date, to ensure proper processing.
The embassy cautioned applicants against individuals or agencies claiming to have preferential access or the ability to influence visa decisions in exchange for money. “We recommend that you be wary of and report to the Embassy any intermediaries offering paid services to submit or facilitate visa applications. We recommend being particularly wary of anyone claiming to have preferential access to visa applications. Unclear application procedures will result in visa denial,” the Embassy stated.
It further clarified that no local employee of the Embassy’s Visa Office or of the VFS Global Application Centre has the authority to decide on visa approvals. All decisions regarding visa issuance remain solely at the discretion of the Italian Embassy.

Applicants are also reminded to provide accurate personal information when booking visa appointments. “Any reservation without this information will be cancelled,” it stressed.
The embassy stressed that VFS Global is the only agency officially authorised to receive Italian visa applications in Oman. Appointments with VFS Global can be booked free of charge via their official website: https://visa.vfsglobal.com/omn/en/ita/.
While a standard service fee applies when applying through VFS Global, the embassy confirmed that any other additional charges are clearly outlined on the VFS Global website. Any request for extra or unofficial payments is deemed illegal and unauthorized.
“Please notify the Embassy if any individuals or companies other than VFS GLOBAL offer services to facilitate visa applications for a fee,” the notice added.
