MUSCAT: ABA Oman International School is proud to announce the exceptional performance of its Class of 2025 in the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme (DP) examinations. This year’s cohort achieved an outstanding average score of 33 points, significantly surpassing the global average of 30.58 points, reflecting the school’s ongoing commitment to academic excellence and holistic student development.

Congratulations to Sarah-Louisa Emmer and Maya Al-Nourihji who both earned a top score of 42 points. The maximum points that can be awarded to an IB Diploma student is the full score of 45, with 42 points generated across the 6 subjects and 3 bonus points derived from Theory of Knowledge (ToK) and the Extended Essay (EE), as well as satisfactory completion of CAS (Creativity, Action and Service) requirements.

This year, 12% of the graduating class – Qusay Firas Ali Al Abduwani, Sarah-Louisa Emmer, Maya Al-Nourihji, Yukta Matai, Syed Ali Zain Rizvi, and Karan Nohut scored 40 or more points, the equivalent of 4 A* grades at A Level. In addition, Tijl Huisman received a bilingual diploma, which is awarded to candidates who opt to study two language courses and receive a grade 3 or higher. ABA has a high participation rate of over 85% in the IB Diploma, with a pass rate of 92% this year. 

Applauding the cohort’s accomplishments, Craig Williamson, ABA Head of School, stated, “Our graduates continue to inspire us with their determination, resilience, and intellectual curiosity. The rigorous two-year IB Diploma is globally recognised as the gold standard in university acceptances. The 2025 cohort comprised 59 students representing 30 nationalities, who have secured places at some of the top universities worldwide in their chosen field of study, such as Medicine, Aerospace Engineering, Environmental Management, Sports Science, Law, Business, and more. ABA graduates received offers in more than one country, with 22% of students receiving generous merit awards, one of them being the prestigious Lester B. Pearson full-ride scholarship, awarded to Yukta Matai, who is pursuing a Master of Science in Psychology at the University of Toronto Mississauga. 

Simon Walker, Assistant Head of School and High School Principal, commended the students, “These results speak volumes about our students’ character and commitment. The IBDP is not just about academic excellence; it is about developing principled, globally minded young people who are prepared to lead and thrive in an ever-changing world.”
