MUSCAT: Young children below the age of 12 and adults over-60s will not be allowed to enter restaurants and barbershops, the Muscat Municipality said while outlining precautionary guidelines to activities related to pubic health.
After five months of closure, the Supreme Committee has allowed the sixth batch of commercial activities that also include barbershops, beauty parlours, restaurants and cafes to reopen from Wednesday.
However, as per the strict guidelines issued, the Muscat Municipality also instructed the establishments to check the temperature of staff before they enter the shops. “The establishment must check the temperature of the workers daily before starting work and after every 8 working hours,” the statement said.

According to the Municipality, barbers also must wear PPE kit including face shield, masks and gloves. Municipality also urged both restaurants and barbershops to limit the usage of banknotes and rely on electronic payment methods.
Supreme Committee on Tuesday allowed fitness centres, ladies’ beauty parlours, traditional medicine clinics, wedding supplies shops, and meeting rooms in hotels to reopen while adhering to strict precautionary measures.
