Gold prices dip as U.S. dollar strengthens, markets eye Fed rate signals

Gold prices slipped in early trading today as easing global trade tensions and a stronger U.S. dollar tempered investor demand.

Muscat: Spot gold fell by 0.2% to $3,308.39 per ounce, following a decline to its lowest level since July 9 in the previous session. U.S. gold futures also edged down 0.1%, settling at $3,306.20.

The decline comes as investors shift focus to the upcoming Federal Reserve monetary policy meeting, hoping for signals on the central bank’s next move regarding interest rates.

Among other precious metals, spot silver dipped slightly by 0.1% to $38.12 per ounce. Platinum, however, saw a modest gain of 0.4% to reach $1,395.75, while palladium dropped 0.7% to $1,237.88.
