DUBAI : The Dubai Land Department (DLD) and Masdar City have inked a memorandum of cooperation that gives Masdar City-based companies the right to buy and own land and property across designated freehold areas in Dubai. This move aligns with the Dubai Economic Agenda D33 and Real Estate Strategy 2033, both focused on expanding sustainable investment and economic diversification.

Previously, free zone companies in the UAE had limited access to Dubai’s property market. The new agreement changes that, offering eligible firms a clear legal framework to purchase property, supported by a streamlined registration process, digital application platform, and direct coordination between DLD and the Free Zone Authority.

Signed by Majid Al Marri, CEO of the Real Estate Registration Sector at DLD, and Ahmed Baghoum, CEO of Masdar City, the partnership is expected to benefit innovation-driven, tech, and green firms looking to expand into Dubai’s thriving real estate space.

Baghoum added that the cooperation will “simplify property registration processes” and empower businesses to scale with ease.

The new framework is being rolled out in phases and could pave the way for similar agreements with other UAE free zones.
