Oman’s housing ministry launches new external real estate documentation service

The Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning has launched new external real estate documentation service, allowing licensed real estate brokerage offices to carry out property documentation procedures directly.

MUSCAT : The initiative enables services such as property sales, donations, and other real estate transactions to be processed through approved brokerage offices, eliminating the need to visit real estate registry departments or government service centres.

“The Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning is pleased to announce the launch of the external real estate documentation service, which aims to provide real estate documentation procedures such as sales, donations, and other real estate transactions through licensed real estate brokerage offices, without the need to visit the real estate registry departments and sections in the directorates,” the Ministry’s announcement stated.

Real estate brokerage offices that wish to benefit from the service are invited to apply by 31 August 2025, provided they meet the eligibility requirements outlined by the Ministry.

General terms and conditions for applying for the external real estate documentation service:
• The office owner must be fully dedicated to managing the business.

• The office must hold a valid commercial registration with real estate brokerage listed as a licensed activity, and be authorized by the Ministry.

• It must operate from a permanent, well-equipped location deemed suitable by the Ministry to provide client services.

• A minimum of one Omani employee, registered with the Ministry of Labor, must be employed at the office.

• The brokerage must have a minimum of three consecutive years of experience in the real estate sector.

• It must employ at least one Ministry-licensed real estate broker.

• The office must also commit to hiring an Omani national with a bachelor’s degree in law, who will be trained and licensed by the Ministry to handle real estate documentation tasks.

Applications will be assessed based on a comparison of qualified offices and the demand for services in each wilayat, according to specific standards set by the Ministry.
