MUSCAT – Judicial control officers from the Directorate General of Consumer Protection discovered the violations during routine inspection tours of markets across the governorate. Upon investigation, officers uncovered that expiry dates on a number of paint products had been deliberately altered. The original expiry dates had been erased and replaced with falsified ones to deceive consumers.

Authorities reported that the seized items included approximately 460 barrels and 961 litres of expired paint. Officers also found price discrepancies between what was displayed on shelves and what was registered at the point of sale, further compounding the violations.

Legal measures were promptly initiated against the offending establishment. The expired products were confiscated, and the case has been referred to the competent authorities to complete legal proceedings.
The Consumer Protection Authority affirms that such practices constitute a clear violation of the Consumer Protection Law and its implementing regulations, warning that they pose a direct threat to consumer health and safety. It calls on everyone to report any violations through the approved official channels.
