MUSCAT – With a diverse array of programmes addressing essential needs from housing to education and crisis relief, the association has disbursed millions in aid, and is now set to launch a new sustainable community housing project, ‘Dar Al Attaa Neighbourhood’ in Al Khaboura.

Established in 2002 and officially licensed in 2006, Dar Al Attaa Association is the first charitable organisation in the Sultanate of Oman. It has been instrumental in transforming the lives of numerous families across various governorates, empowering them to lead sustainable and stable lives.
Charity work stands as one of the noblest forms of social solidarity, embodying compassion and unity among individuals and communities. It plays a vital role in strengthening family stability, meeting the needs of underprivileged and vulnerable families, and ensuring a dignified and secure life.

Maryam Issa Al Zadjali, Founder and Chairperson of Dar Al Attaa Association, stated that the association strives to assist those in need through a variety of programmes, including: the Family Sponsorship Program, Crisis Relief Program, Education Program, Disaster Relief and Management Program, ‘My Safe Home’ programme for housing construction and maintenance, Empowerment Programme, Islamic Values Programme, and the ‘Let’s Read’ Programme.

In a statement to Oman News Agency (ONA), she noted that in 2024, the association allocated RO 4,094,000 to these programmes, aimed at providing living support and meeting the essential needs of underprivileged families. She added that in the first half of 2025, approximately RO 2,038,000 was disbursed for these initiatives.

Highlighting the importance of innovation in charitable work, Al Zadjali explained that Dar Al Attaa has established a dedicated Social Innovation Department to leverage modern technology in developing its programs and serving the community. This department is expected to bring a qualitative shift in services, streamline procedures, and enhance the efficiency and quality of the association’s work.
The upcoming ‘Dar Al Attaa Neighbourhood’ project will include a mosque, a community center, and commercial facilities. It features 36 model residential units, each spanning 274 square meters, equipped with solar energy systems and water treatment to reflect the concept of sustainable community housing.
To date, Dar Al Attaa has delivered 175 homes to families across Oman and carried out maintenance on more than 2,514 houses.

Maryam Al Zadjali affirmed that the association remains committed to expanding its assistance programmes, strengthening partnerships with government and private sectors, and contributing to sustainable development. These efforts aim to meet the needs of Omani society and enhance the role of voluntary charity work in community service.
