MUSCAT – The decision, which comes into effect following its publication in the Official Gazette, is based on the Veterinary Quarantine Law (Royal Decree No. 45/2004) and its executive regulations, as well as recommendations from Oman’s competent veterinary authority.
Article 1 of the decision specifies that the import ban applies to mollusc species listed in Chapters 2, 4, and 6 of the World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH) Manual for Diagnostic Tests for Aquatic Animals, along with their products, derivatives, and waste from the State of New Jersey.
Exempted from the ban are products, derivatives and waste heat-treated or prepared in accordance with the Aquatic Animal Health Code issued by the International Office of Epizootics (OIE) and the World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH).
Article 2 specifies that competent authorities shall implement this decision, each within its area of expertise.
