The agreement was signed by Eng. Ahmed bin Saeed Al Amri, CEO of Oman Airports, and Eugene Gan, CEO of Changi International Airport, in the presence of His Excellency Eng. Saeed bin Hamoud al Maawali, Minister of Transport, Communications and Information Technology, and Chairman of Oman Airports’ Board of Directors.
Eng. Al Amri emphasised that Oman Airports is committed to enhancing airport operating revenues by reducing costs, driving transformational changes in revenue generation, and improving operational performance. He noted that the company is diversifying its income sources through innovative commercial strategies, tendering opportunities for concessionaires, and expansion into sectors such as retail and parking.
He pointed out that “Oman Airports” is working alongside the relevant authorities to enhance the sector’s revenues in light of the Sultanate of Oman’s strategic location and the multiplicity of airports, which makes us in dire need of developing an integrated system that is consistent with Oman Vision 2040, so that the sector can be an effective contributor to diversifying sources of income.
For his part, Eugene Gan, CEO of Changi Airport, stated that the airport will leverage its expertise with its partners at Oman Airports to develop integrated solutions to enhance the business environment and improve commercial revenues. Oman’s strategic location between East and West makes it vital to capitalize on this location, in addition to the presence of modern airports that can contribute to increasing operational and commercial revenues.
It’s worth noting that Oman Airports recently signed a memorandum of understanding with Malaysian company WCT International Limited to explore development and investment opportunities for land within the Muscat International Airport
