MUSCAT – The projects are part of the sustainable governorates and cities development programme and align with Oman Vision 2040. They aim to improve the quality of services provided to citizens, residents, and visitors, and facilitate movement between various residential areas, thereby supporting urban and economic development, while enhancing traffic safety.

The ongoing and completed works this year include the construction and paving of internal roads in the wilayats of Salalah, Taqah, Mirbat, Sadah, Shaleem and the Hallaniyat Islands, Thumrait, Maqshan, Al Mazyouna, Rakhyut, and Dhalkut.

According to His Excellency Dr. Ahmed bin Mohsen Al Ghassani, Chairman of Dhofar Municipality, Salalah is witnessing the implementation of projects to pave internal roads covering 161 km in residential areas, at a total cost of over RO 9 million. Additionally, the dualisation of Sultan Qaboos Street is underway with a current completion rate of 22 percent, costing RO 16.3 million.
His Excellency also indicated other projects aimed at enhancing the Governorate’s infrastructure. They include:

• Paving of 40 kilometres of internal roads and the dualisation of Thumrait Street, including decorative lighting, at a cost of over RO 3 million.
• Road works in Taqah covering 32 kilometes in both plain and mountain areas at an estimated cost of RO 1.7 million.
• Paving of 20 kilometres of roads in Mirbat at RO 995,000, along with the completion of the Mirbat Street dualisation project, valued at OMR 1.96 million.
• A combined 50 km of internal roads in Sadah, Shaleem, Hallaniyat Islands, Rakhyut, Dhalkut, Al Mazyouna, which are currently under construction.
• Implementation of 15 km of internal roads in Maqshan.
  His Excellency emphasised that these projects are part of the government’s plan to implement service projects that directly impact citizens’ lives and contribute to achieving balanced urban development across the governorate’s various wilayats.
  It’s worth noting that Dhofar Municipality continues to implement its work according to a participatory approach that takes into account the needs of the local community and enhances the efficiency of municipal services and development projects across various sectors.
