MUSCAT : The upcoming event marks the 34th edition of the popular International Technology Exhibition.
Organised in cooperation with the Arabian Research Bureau, the exhibition will bring together more than 300 local and international companies and will serve as a key platform for digital investment in the Sultanate.

Speaking at a press conference, His Excellency Dr. Ali bin Amer Al-Shidhani, Undersecretary for Communications and Information Technology, said that COMEX has become a strategic platform to promote investment opportunities in the communications and IT sector. It also supports emerging technology companies, enhances local content, and fosters public-private and international cooperation.

Reviewing the impact of last year’s event, His Excellency noted that COMEX 2024 exceeded expectations, with over 60 agreements and MoUs signed, worth more than RO 85 million, marking a 112 percent increase over the 2023 edition. The event included around 60 workshops, 25 startup-focused events, and featured over 100 expert speakers, attracting more than 80,000 visitors and 350 participating entities.

It is pertinent to note that the ICT sector in Oman grew by 10.6 percent in the first quarter of 2025 compared to the same period in 2024. Besides, local investment in artificial intelligence reached RO 60 million by the end of last year, driven by initiatives under the National Program for Artificial Intelligence and Advanced Technologies.

His Excellency confirmed that COMEX 2025 will feature significant local and global participation, with a variety of pavilions, specialised sections, and side events. The Ministry will have its own pavilion showcasing key initiatives and projects under the National Digital Economy Program.

The exhibition will also host a wide range of events and workshops focusing on digital investment, e-gaming, digital tourism, and the creative content industry. These activities are aimed at companies, investors, and startups operating in the ICT sector. Notably, the Ministry will hold a Cybersecurity Investment and Local Products Forum, which will highlight national achievements in cybersecurity and promote youth-led innovation to address emerging cyber challenges using international best practices.

The Ministry will also organise the Artificial Intelligence and Quantum Computing Forum, designed to raise awareness about the potential of these advanced technologies. The forum will promote collaboration between research institutions and industry, explore practical applications, and contribute to the development of national skills. A cybersecurity hackathon is also planned to generate innovative technical solutions.

COMEX 2025 will feature a Digital Investment Corner, offering targeted opportunities to attract both local and international investors, localize advanced technologies, and position Oman as a regional hub for digital innovation. A dedicated pavilion for emerging technology companies will also provide an enabling environment for startups, including specialized workshops on venture capital investment, company growth strategies, and success stories in the tech space.

A visual presentation during the press conference highlighted the exhibition’s major sections, including International Delegations Pavilion, Space Technology, Renewable Energy, Smart Cities, Health Technologies, and other cutting-edge fields.
