MUSCAT – The notice emphasises the legal obligation to submit Environmental Monitoring Reports (Environmental Performance Reports) every six months.

The directive comes in line with the Law on Conservation of the Environment and Prevention of Pollution issued by Royal Decree No. 114/2001, and Article 15 of the Regulations for Environmental Permits under Administrative Decision No. 107/2023.

Under these regulations, project owners and operators of activities falling within Category A or B are legally obligated to provide the Environment Authority with environmental monitoring reports on a bi-annual basis. These reports must include detailed environmental data and information derived from the environmental register, as specified in Article No. 14 of the same Regulations.

To ensure accuracy and compliance, the EA specifies that these reports must be submitted on a designated form through one of the environmental consulting offices officially registered and accredited by the Environment Authority. This measure aims to streamline the reporting process and ensure the integrity of the submitted data.

The Environment Authority has also issued a stern warning regarding non-compliance. It stated that in cases where project owners or operators fail to adhere to these reporting requirements, necessary legal actions will be initiated in accordance with the provisions of the aforementioned Regulations.
