Muscat: The projects, currently underway in the wilayats of Ibri, Yanqul, and Dhank, aim to improve connectivity, enhance living conditions, and boost economic and tourism activities.
Engineer Salem bin Mohammed Al Sarkhi, Director of the Projects Department at Al Dhahirah Municipality, confirmed that the internal road development is being carried out across three major wilayats. In the Wilayat of Ibri, two packages are being implemented to pave 60 kilometres of road at a cost of RO 4 million. In Yanqul, 25 kilometres have been paved with an investment of RO 2.2 million, while Dhank has seen 26 kilometres developed at a cost of RO 1.6 million.
According to Al Sarkhi, construction progress varies by location. In Ibri, the completion rate for the two road packages has reached approximately 15 percent. Meanwhile, Yanqul and Dhank have achieved a 30 percent completion rate for their respective road projects.

He explained that these projects enhance the flow of traffic between various villages and residential neighborhoods, facilitating the movement of citizens. They also contribute to creating a healthy environment by eliminating the effects of dust resulting from the use of dirt roads, in addition to adding a civilized and aesthetic character to these villages, and stimulating social, economic, and tourism aspects, in line with the approach of continuous development and meeting the basic needs of development projects in the governorate.
He added that the projects include necessary infrastructure such as flood protection and directional signage, ensuring safety and functionality during adverse weather conditions. The road upgrades are also expected to spur social, economic, and tourism development across the governorate, aligning with the broader strategy of sustainable urban and rural development.
