MUSCAT : In a public awareness message, the hospital highlighted that everyday items commonly left inside cars may become dangerous when exposed to prolonged heat, posing risks to both occupants and property.
Among the items identified as potential hazards are lighters, which may explode under high temperatures; water bottles, which can become a safety risk when exposed to direct sunlight; chargers and power banks, which may overheat and cause fires; and perfumes and eyeglasses, which can be damaged by heat and, in some cases, contribute to fire risks.
The hospital stressed that a simple inspection of the vehicle before leaving it can help prevent accidents and damage, encouraging drivers to remove any items that could be affected by extreme heat.
“Your safety begins with awareness,” the hospital said, urging the public not to turn their vehicles into “sources of real danger” during the summer season.
