MUSCAT : An official spokesperson for Oman’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a firm statement denouncing the ongoing regional escalation, which began with what Oman described as Israel’s “illegal missile attack” on the Islamic Republic of Iran on June 13. The situation has since spiraled into a series of retaliatory missile exchanges, including a recent Iranian strike on sovereign sites in the State of Qatar.
Oman labelled the strike on Qatar—a fellow Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member—as an “unacceptable and condemned act” that violates the sovereignty of a sisterly state, contradicts the principles of good neighborliness, and poses a dangerous threat to regional stability.
The Sultanate expressed its full solidarity with Qatar and its right to take all necessary measures to safeguard its security and stability. Oman also urged all parties involved to exercise wisdom, end the military escalation, and return to peaceful negotiations grounded in international law in order to resolve the conflict through legitimate and just means.
