MUSCAT: The 22-day nationwide movement ban to contain the spread of coronavirus has come to an end on Saturday (August 15) at 5am.
The movement ban was first introduced on July 25 from 7pm to 6am until August 8. However, the duration was reduced from August 8 onwards from 9pm to 5am till August 15. Public places and commercial outlets were closed daily during the night curfew, while walking or driving during this time was also prohibited.
In a statement issued, the Royal Oman Police (ROP) thanked the public for the support during the nationwide movement ban. “Based on the decision of the Supreme Committee the movement ban will end on August 15 at 5am. We would like to thank all citizens and residents for their cooperation in implementing this,” ROP said.

Meanwhile, the Supreme Committee has urged the public to adhere to precautionary measures to contain the spread of Covid-19.
“While appreciating the great response shown by the citizens and residents, the Committee calls upon everyone to continue to strictly adhere to wearing face masks, keep physical distancing and maintain hand hygiene along with other preventive measures in order to curb the spread of Coronavirus,” the statement added.
