MUSCAT: A Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) spokesperson on Friday said that the Sultanate supported the decision of United Arab Emirates (UAE) to normalise relations with Israel.
On Thursday, in a historic deal, Israel and the United Arab Emirates reached an agreement that will lead to a full normalization of diplomatic relations between the two Middle Eastern nations.
The agreement came after a phone call on Thursday between US President Donals Trump, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed, crown prince of Abu Dhabi.

Under the agreement, Israel has agreed to suspend applying sovereignty to Palestinian areas of the occupied West Bank that it had been discussing annexing.
“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs would like to express that the Sultanate supports the decision of the United Arab Emirates to normalise the relations with Israel within the framework of the historic joint declaration between United States of America, UAE and Israel,” the statement issued by Oman News Agency said.
“The Sultanate also hope that the deal will bring lasting peace in the region,” the statement added.
