Muscat – From May 29 to 30, an Omani delegation headed by His Excellency Sultan bin Salim Al Habsi, Minister of Finance, visited Kazakhstan to discuss deepening cooperation across several key areas. The delegation included senior officials from the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion, the Tax Authority, and the Oman Investment Authority.
During the official visit, His Excellency Al Habsi met with His Excellency Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, President of the Republic of Kazakhstan. He conveyed greetings from His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, along with his best wishes for continued progress and prosperity for the Kazakh leadership and people.
A significant milestone of the visit was the signing of an agreement to avoid double taxation and prevent tax evasion on income and capital, aimed at fostering a more attractive investment climate between the two countries.
The two sides also explored investment and trade opportunities in strategic sectors including logistics, mining, and food security. Discussions extended to financial sector collaboration and potential partnerships in the oil industry.
