The ministry stressed that all genuine employment in the UAE must be backed by an official offer letter and a valid work visa—no exceptions.

DUBAI: In an official advisory, MoHRE raised concerns about the rising number of recruitment scams targeting job seekers, particularly those drawn by terms like “Work from home,” “No experience needed,” or “Flexible schedule.” These offers, officials warn, are often too good to be true and could lead victims into illegal work arrangements or financial loss.

Scammers are known to demand upfront fees for application processing, background checks, or work supplies—practices that are entirely illegal under UAE labour laws. “Job seekers should never agree to pay money to secure a job,” MoHRE officials said. “Genuine employers cover all recruitment costs, and a valid job offer will always be verified through the ministry.”

The ministry emphasized that a verified job offer—issued through the MoHRE system—is mandatory before a work visa can be processed. Employment on a tourist or visit visa is strictly prohibited and punishable by law.

To help protect job seekers, MoHRE outlined key safety steps:

Always confirm the job offer through the MoHRE system or UAE embassy.

Reject any employment offers that ask for payment or skip interviews and qualifications.

Use official channels like the National Economic Register to confirm company legitimacy.

Avoid working on tourist visas, and only accept employment after receiving an approved work visa.

Contact MoHRE directly at +971 6802 7666 or ask@mohre.gov.ae for verification.

For Dubai-based visas, job seekers can use the GDRFA platform, while those applying in other emirates can verify via the ICP’s eChannels portal. Tourist visas, the ministry added, should only be obtained through licensed UAE airlines, hotels, or travel agencies.

MoHRE also offers employment contract services via its digital platforms. Contracts must be signed by both employer and employee, and certain job categories require additional processing through awareness centres.
