Muscat: Speaking on the social media platform Truth Social, Trump stated: “After a long night of talks mediated by the United States, I am pleased to announce that India and Pakistan have agreed to a FULL AND IMMEDIATE CEASEFIRE.”
The announcement was echoed by Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, who confirmed the ceasefire agreement and reaffirmed Islamabad’s commitment to regional peace: “Pakistan has always strived for peace and security in the region, without compromising on its sovereignty and territorial integrity.”
India has yet to officially comment on the ceasefire.

The development comes just hours after both nations accused one another of launching missile and drone attacks on each other’s bases, escalating tensions after India conducted strikes in Pakistan and Pakistan-administered Kashmir earlier this week. These actions were in response to a recent deadly militant attack on Indian tourists in Pahalgam — an incident for which India blamed Pakistan. Islamabad has strongly denied any involvement.
