WASHINGTON: The innovative project combines two key elements: Lio, an automated oil-changing system, and AOFR, a smart robot that replaces the oil filter using advanced sensors, cameras, and obstacle-detection technology. This pioneering solution revolutionizes vehicle maintenance by prioritizing speed, safety, precision, and environmental cleanliness.

The AOFR robot efficiently positions itself under the vehicle to remove and replace the oil filter with high precision using a torque lever, wrench, and surveillance system—all remotely operated. Meanwhile, the oil-change machine works seamlessly across various engine types, ensuring a clean operation without spills or cranes.

Team member Farid bin Samir Al-Alawi shared that the project was developed over several months with the goal of simplifying car maintenance and minimizing human error.
