MUSCAT : As part of its ongoing efforts to enhance urban infrastructure and mitigate flood risks, Muscat Municipality has launched the second phase of its campaign to clean water drainage channels in Muttrah, with targeted operations in Wadi Al Kabir, Ruwi, and Darsait.
The campaign comes in line with the Municipality’s commitment to maintaining public cleanliness and improving the city’s infrastructure, particularly in areas critical for water flow during storms and adverse weather conditions. These drainage channels, which include both main and secondary road crossings, play a vital role in protecting residents and properties from flooding.
According to the Municipality, many of the water channels in the targeted areas have suffered from varying degrees of blockages due to the accumulation dirt, stones, and waste. The cleaning operations aim to restore the full functionality of these channels and ensure they are prepared for any upcoming weather events.
