MUSCAT: The Public Authority for Civil Aviation (PACA) has issued the first weather bulletin ahead of the tropical depression that will make landfall in Oman by Friday evening.
In a statement issued, PACA predicted that the depression will reach peak on Saturday, August 8 with heavy rainfall. “Heavy thunderstorm is likely to occur from Friday evening until Sunday evening, while the peak of the depression will be on Saturday in the govenorates of Muscat, South Al Sharqiyah, North Al Sharqiyah, Al Dakhiliyah, South Al Batinah, North Al Batinah, Al Dhahira, Al Buraimi and Al Wusta,” the statement said.

“Flash floods and fresh downdraft winds causing blowing dust over deserts and open areas are expected until Monday, August 10. Sea water inundation is predicted to affect the low-lying areas along the coastal areas during high tides,” the statement from PACA said.
PACA also advised citizens and residents to take precaution and stay away from the low level areas and to avoid crossing wadis.
