Muscat: The Ministry stated that the newly introduced Law Regulating the Transfer and Transplantation of Human Organs and Tissues addresses the increasing need for organ transplants as a vital therapeutic option for patients with terminal organ failure. His Excellency the Minister of Health told the Oman News Agency that the law strengthens the National Organ Transplant Program by safeguarding the rights and safety of both donors and recipients.
The law outlines clear conditions and procedures for organ donation—whether during life or after death—and assigns legal responsibility and duties to medical institutions involved in transplant procedures.
In addition, His Excellency emphasized the importance of the broader Public Health Law, describing it as a pressing requirement to regulate all aspects related to public health. The law serves as an integrated framework of scientific and practical guidelines that reinforces the Sultanate’s healthcare system and its coordination with various sectors.
