Muscat: Khalfan bin Issa Al Hussaini and Elias bin Walid Al Sulaimani were awarded top honors for their scientific research titled “Investigating the temperatures recorded by GLOBE students compared to the meteorological station in the Wilayat of Al Amerat over the past ten years” in the 2025 International Virtual Science Symposium (IVSS), part of the GLOBE Environmental Programme.
Their study meticulously gathered daily temperature data from 2015 to 2024 using GLOBE protocols and compared it with official records from the Meteorological Department. The research found a minor but consistent discrepancy between student-collected data and the readings from the Al Amerat weather station, attributing the differences to varying monitoring locations and equipment.
The award-winning project stood out among submissions from across the globe, earning accolades not just for its scientific rigor but also for its relevance in the era of climate awareness.
