Muscat: Joining over 190 countries in the annual observance, Oman is emphasizing unity and responsibility in protecting Earth’s natural resources and confronting environmental risks.

Earth Day serves as a worldwide call to action, aiming to raise awareness among individuals, communities, and organizations about the urgent need to safeguard the planet’s ecosystems. Through this year’s theme, Oman highlights the collective strength required to foster sustainability, combat pollution, and mitigate the effects of climate change.

In this context, the Environment Authority of Oman continues to lead efforts in implementing sustainable environmental policies. These include managing nature reserves, advancing clean energy projects, and initiating climate resilience strategies. Strategic programs now focus on rehabilitating ecosystems, boosting carbon capture efforts, expanding green hydrogen investments, and encouraging responsible development that balances environmental, economic, and social priorities.

The Authority also aims to elevate Oman’s position on the Global Environmental Performance Index, building on its current status as the leading Arab country and ranking 22nd globally among the least polluted nations in 2025, according to Numbeo.

Oman’s participation in Earth Day is part of a broader international effort to inspire urgent environmental action. The occasion calls on nations to accelerate their transition to clean energy, promote circular economies, and instil the values of environmental stewardship across all levels of society.
