Muscat: Bank Muscat, the leading financial services provider in the Sultanate of Oman, recently celebrated the inauguration of the lighting system project of the Al Baz Sports Team in Samail, Al Dakhiliya Governorate. The event was organised under the patronage of H.E. Sheikh Ali Mohammed Al Tamimi, Wali of Samail, and in the presence of Adel Saeed Al Nuaimi, Regional Manager of Bank Muscat Branches in Al Dakhiliya Governorate, in addition to a number of invitees and team members.
On this occasion, Adel Saeed Al Nuaimi, Regional Manager of Bank Muscat Branches in Al Dakhiliya Governorate, said: ” Bank Muscat proudly celebrates the success of its “Green Sports” programme, a cornerstone of the Bank’s commitment to social responsibility. This initiative has made a significant impact on national sports teams, Omani youth, and society at large. By organizing a diverse array of activities and events, the programme fosters the development of young people’s skills across sports, culture, and social engagement, while also highlighting their talents and serving local community. Abdullah Mahfouz Al Sulaimi, Head of Al Baz Sports Team in Samail, expressed his delight in organizing this ceremony to celebrate the inauguration of the team’s field lighting project. He emphasized that: “The “Green Sports” programme is a key initiative dedicated to supporting local sports teams. This programme has had a significant and positive impact on the community, as evidenced by the numerous beneficiaries since its inception. Throughout this project, we aim to further enrich the community by utilizing this space to host a variety of social, sports, and cultural activities and events.”

A number of Al Baz sports team members also expressed their happiness over the project’s inauguration. Aziz Said Al Mahmoudi said: “We are thrilled about this enhancement to the team’s field, as the project will create an ideal environment for training and hosting a variety of events. We are optimistic that the team will continue to play a vital role in honing the skills of young athletes in the sports arena.”
Ahmed Salim Al Busaidi added: “Bank Muscat’s “Green Sports” programme is a vital initiative that empowers local teams to enhance sports fields facilities, which serve as venues for a wide range of social and sports events. These fields play a crucial role in advancing Omani sports and supporting community members of all ages.”
The “Green Sports” programme by Bank Muscat aims to bolster Omani’s sports infrastructure by funding national teams’ projects, promoting green spaces, and fostering community engagement. The programme has continued to achieve success since its launch in 2012, and this is evident through the intense competition by the national teams to benefit from the funding provided annually.
The programme has been a model of success, with numerous teams competing annually for funding. To date, the programme has supported 203 teams, benefiting over 70,000 members across various governorates. The initiative serves as a benchmark for supporting local communities in sports and cultural fields, ensuring the sustainability of projects and providing venues for diverse activities, thereby enhancing the sporting landscape across Oman.
