MUSCAT : According to the provisions of the law, employers are legally obligated to repatriate expatriate workers to their home country or any other mutually agreed-upon destination within a maximum period of 60 days following the termination of their employment contract.
The Ministry also pointed out that employers are also required to grant the departing worker, upon their request, a release letter confirming the absence of any outstanding liabilities owed by the worker to the employer at the end of their employment or upon their departure from Oman.
“The employer shall repatriate the non-Omani worker to his country, or any other country agreed to, upon termination of the employment contract within a maximum period of 60 (sixty) days. The employer shall grant the worker, at his request, a release letter from any liability towards him upon the end of the employment contract or his departure,” stated the Ministry’s notice.
