“We will deal with it as other countries do,” says OPAZ Chairman on impact of US duties on Oman

During the Public Authority for Special Economic Zones and Free Zones (OPAZ) annual media briefing, His Excellency Sheikh Dr. Ali bin Masoud Al Sunaidy, Chairman of OPAZ, addressed the potential impact of US customs duties on Omani exports.

MUSCAT : “We will deal with it as other countries deal with it, and we confirm that the Authority is constantly working with various relevant parties and stakeholders through several meetings to study the opportunities and challenges resulting from any decision,” stated His Excellency.

He further highlighted Oman’s export dynamics, and revealed that 15 economic and free zones across the Sultanate currently export approximately 3 percent of their total production to the United States, with some factories exporting up to 27 percent of their products to the U.S. market.
