MUSCAT : Entrusted with financial and administrative oversight of state-owned funds, the SAI is actively monitoring all financial transactions and performance of entities under its purview, as mandated by the State Financial and Administrative Audit Law.

Dr. Hamir bin Nasser Al Mahrouqi, spokesperson for the SAI, highlighted the institution’s comprehensive approach. “We are directing all our resources towards rigorous financial, administrative, and performance oversight, ensuring compliance with laws and regulations and preventing conflicts of interest,” he stated.

Dr. Al Mahrouqi emphasized that the SAI’s oversight activities span a range of key areas: financial management, legal compliance, administrative performance, financial violations, investments, and accounts. He pointed out that the Institution’s purview of work supports the implementation of laws and regulations, while minimizing conflicts of interest and ensuring the economical, efficient, and effective use of public resources.

The institution’s efforts have had tangible results, including the recovery of public funds, improved financial savings, and enhanced institutional performance.

The SAI has also fostered strong cooperation with other government agencies, contributing to a more streamlined and efficient process for monitoring and enforcing financial regulations. Joint committees, regular meetings, and the exchange of data all contribute to improving institutional performance, protecting public funds, and ensuring the optimal use of national resources.

Internationally, Oman has strengthened its partnerships with regional and global organizations committed to combating corruption and promoting integrity. The SAI actively participates in the activities of organizations such as the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) and works closely with counterparts in other countries to share expertise and enhance global anti-corruption efforts.

The SAI continues to focus on implementing international agreements such as the United Nations Convention Against Corruption and supports the National Plan to Promote Integrity. The institution also emphasizes transparency, encouraging public participation through the publication of annual reports, the receipt of complaints, and the promotion of awareness campaigns about integrity and good governance.

Dr. Al Mahrouqi reiterated that the SAI’s efforts, in close collaboration with various government agencies and the community, align with Oman’s national goals for sustainable development under the leadership of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik.
