MUSCAT : The consumer, who had filed a complaint regarding defects in his home’s perimeter wall, received a refund of RO 4,000 as compensation for the issues affecting the house’s aesthetics and structural integrity.
The case highlights the Consumer Protection Authority’s ongoing efforts to protect consumer rights and ensure adherence to contractual agreements.
As per the complaint, the consumer observed several defects during the construction phase. These included an alteration of the perimeter wall’s facade, a reduction in the house’s ceiling height, and a discrepancy in the distance between the house and the opposite perimeter wall, all of which impacted the house’s aesthetics and functionality.
Following the complaint, the authority summoned all concerned parties and managed to reach agreement to refund an amount of RO 4,000 to the consumer as compensation.
It is noteworthy that these efforts underscore the CPA’s commitment to preserving consumer rights and ensuring that commercial entities fulfil their contractual obligations. The Authority also emphasises the importance of verifying the details of agreements and contracts with service providers and encourages consumers to report any breaches of contractual terms. The Authority reaffirms that consumer rights protection remains a top priority in its pursuit of a safe consumer environment.
