Muscat – This project aims to complete the official naming of both primary and secondary roads across the region in accordance with established regulations and standards.

Intensive meetings were held in the offices of the governors across the governorate’s wilayats, where subcommittee members, governors, and technical experts gathered to assess the progress of the project. During these meetings, progress reports for each wilayat were reviewed, highlighting the rates of achievement and the work completed thus far. The committees also conducted a comprehensive review of the naming regulations that must be adhered to at various stages of the project.

The meetings focused on addressing the challenges faced by the working groups, particularly in relation to errors identified during the naming process. Emphasis was placed on taking corrective action to ensure smooth progress moving forward.

The committees also stressed the importance of selecting names that reflect the Omani identity, capturing the social, heritage, and geographical characteristics of each wilayat. To ensure community alignment, the committee has set a target of ensuring that at least 30 percent of the proposed names are distinctive and relevant to the local community, while still adhering to the approved regulations.
