Oman’s conventional commercial banks recorded a robust financial performance by the end of December 2024, with total credit balances rising by 4.8%.

Muscat: According to the latest data, credit granted to the private sector grew by 3.6% to reach RO 20.7 billion, signaling increased lending activity across businesses and individuals.

The banking sector’s total investments in securities saw a significant jump of 20.5%, reaching approximately RO 6 billion.

  • Investment in government development bonds increased by 7.3% to RO 2 billion.
  • Foreign securities investment saw a notable rise of 30.3%, totaling RO 2.3 billion.

On the liabilities side, total deposits at conventional commercial banks climbed 6.2% to RO 25.1 billion.

  • Government deposits increased by 5.3% to RO 5.3 billion.
  • Public sector institution deposits surged 11% to RO 2.5 billion.
  • Private sector deposits grew 4.9%, reaching RO 16.4 billion, and accounted for 65.3% of total deposits.
