Nearly 3,000 complaints registered against insurance companies in Oman, says FSA

The Financial Services Authority (FSA) has announced its annual customer protection statistics for 2024, revealing that it handled 22,544 requests, including inquiries, reports, and complaints

Muscat: The majority of interactions came in the form of inquiries, totaling 19,665, reflecting increased public awareness of financial laws and regulations.

Insurance sector complaints topped the list with 2,627 cases, showing a rising demand for consumer protection in insurance services.

Public joint stock companies and securities firms each saw 35 complaints, with an additional 18 complaints lodged against the Authority itself.

Reports of illegal or unethical financial practices reached 164 cases, reinforcing the importance of regulatory oversight in ensuring fair financial practices.

The FSA has also launched an online service, “Statistics on the Protection of Clients in the Capital Market and Insurance Sectors,” which provides real-time updates on inquiries, complaints, and customer feedback. The platform enhances public access to key financial data while tracking customer satisfaction and regulatory enforcement actions.
